George Revel

George Revel is a three-time National Fly Casting Champion, rod designer, FFF Master Certified Fly Casting Instructor, and the former President of the venerable Golden Gate Angling and Casting Club in San Francisco. A well-traveled and seasoned outdoorsman, George knows the ins-and-outs of the industry and is passionate about making the sport accessible throughout a client’s lifetime.

Sarah Landström

Sarah Landström is an Artist and Fly Fisher living in San Francisco, CA. Having grown up along the shores of Lake Michigan, Sarah has always had a close relationship with water and the environment around her. But when she moved to Montana at 18 her life, her art, and her relationship with all things aquatic changed. She fell in love with the sport and the intricacies of the beautiful fish she was able to experience. While attending the School of the Art Institute of Chicago she was able to develop her unique intense style of painting. Her works are primarily dramatic large-scale depictions of fish or the environments they inhabit.

Steve Slater

Growing up in Southern California and later moving to the east bay, which has been home ever since. Steve Slater has been fly fishing since 1965; his Father taught him from an early age that fishing off the beaten path is the only way to go. Implementing these values into his guiding whether it’s getting lost in Yosemite National Park or standing on the banks of McCloud during the October Caddis, Steve preaches solitude. Before his time at Lost Coast Outfitters, he worked as the fishing and store manager at Orvis for over 15 years. If you have the pleasure of going on one of Steve’s trips, you will have an awesome to shake hands with a mighty brown trout or if you a lucky a golden trout.

Will Wittecombe

Will grew up right here in San Francisco, being a native of the area, he quickly gravitated to trout fishing in northern California. Since starting fly fishing in 1994 Will has gone from trout to steelhead and over the years from the Trinity River to British Columbia. Spending two months in BC every fall, his knowledge of Spey casting is at an expert level. Individuals in the bay area who know Will and his passion for steelhead are always eager to ask him for his opinion and advice. As for his time in San Francisco, you can find him on the open surf looking for the elusive striped bass.

Steve Adachi

Steve grew up fishing the San Francisco Surf with his Father, from 1960 he has had a constant connection with the bay and its surrounding beaches. Either watching his Dad haul in 50-pound striped bass from the shore or working as a first mate in the San Francisco Bay, Steve means business and that business is catching fish. Over the years Steve has helped develop fly rods for the open surf and has become a pioneer in tying striper flies. Forever salt water is in Steve’s veins and has become an avid big tarpon fly fisherman in recent years. If you have a chance to chatter about fish with him, I suggest you listen. The enjoyment Steve gets from figuring out the tides, and fish movement is a sight to see, goes to show that a life on the water is a life worth living.

Ben Engle

Ben Engle grew up in Alameda, California, and began fly fishing in the eastern sierras from the age of 10. Not only an incredible fly fisherman Ben is a world-class fine art printmaker, making his attention to detail unmatched. With this skill, fly tying has become a specialty of Ben’s, from classic Atlantic salmon flies to his twist on surf perch flies. Nowadays you can find Ben searching for striped bass, halibut, leopard sharks all over the bay area.

When the idea was hatched to build an exceptional fly shop in San Francisco, LCO rounded up some old friends and great anglers. These are the people making this project possible.
